Gundam: Solo

Description

A Gundam I designed for someone else's project. The technology it uses basically counters anyone who claims stealth in space is impossible. Design-wise, it's basically my homage to the Raftclans, but I'm really too tired too differentiate the design any further. Here is the profile:

Gundam: Solo

Role: Mass-Control Perfect-Stealth Mobile Suit

Features: 360 Degree Cockpit, VEIL system

Armaments: HI-beam saber x1, VEIL bit x6

Options: VEIL satellite x2, VEIL bit xMany

Description:

The Gundam: Solo was one of the first Gundam mobile suits, but due to its sophisticated stealth technology, its existence went undiscovered for decades after its initial deployment. Instead of engaging directly with other mobile suits, the VEIL system allows the Solo to deceive, manipulate, or gain control of enemy formations while remaining hidden. This lone mobile suit is responsible for the assassination of countless military officials, and it is rumored that it has single-handedly crushed entire armies from within. The name Solo signifies the position of "one" or "ace". It is fielded primarily in space, but it has strong performance under gravity and in atmosphere as well. To fully take advantage of all of the Solo's abilities, the pilot that commands it must be a master strategist and a creative genius.

VEIL system- The VEIL system serves three purposes: masking the presence of the Solo, creating holograms to deceive enemy units, and taking control of enemy units and formations through hacking and information control.

The Visual Elimination Illusion Lattice masks the Solo over practically the entire electromagnetic spectrum using destructive interference. It is virtually impossible to mask a mobile suit due to its size and heat signature, but the VEIL system completely cancels all electromagnetic radiation emitted by the Solo by producing an emission spectrum that is equal but opposite to its natural spectrum. The two spectrums overlap and destructively interfere, causing the Solo to be invisible in almost every electromagnetic range including radio, microwave, infrared, visible, ultraviolet, and x-ray. The only way to detect the Solo at a distance is via alpha, beta, or gamma-ray photography, or by detecting fluctuations in gravity due to the Solo's mass. Such instruments are normally not available to militaries and can only be found in research labs. In order for the VEIL system to predict and produce an anti-emission spectrum, the Solo requires a massively powerful processing computer. The Solo's head is engineered with many vents and heat sinks to help cool its supercomputer.

While the VEIL system is contained within the frame of the mobile suit, the system's range is extended through VEIL bits and VEIL satellites, which are equipped with long-range antennas and projectors. The Solo mounts six VEIL bits in its shoulder pauldrons and skirt armor, and each satellite also mounts many of its own bits. This network of satellites and bits can produce holograms that span entire battlefields, but this is energy-intensive and requires careful positioning. The holograms can create illusions of allied support units, enemy support, or even cause a mobile suit's teammates to seemingly vanish from behind it mid-battle. Many armies have destroyed themselves in the Solo's presence, friends and brothers mistaking each other for enemies. While the projectors of the VEIL system are not meant for offense, the radiation they produce can be lethal to humans or damaging to mobile suit sensors with adequate focus.

The VEIL system allowed the Solo to hack and control battlefield information in an age where mobile suit engineers were still developing standardized combat computers. The preferred strategy of the Solo is to feed false coordinates to enemy factions, leading them into ambushes or into disadvantageous positions to weaken their formations. While it takes time to fully gain control of a mobile suit, the Solo was also capable of doing this either wirelessly or quickly by contact through the motorized wires in its wrist. The controlled mobile suit could spontaneously fire its weapon, ignite its beam sabers while still holstered, fly uncontrollably, or even open its cockpit hatch mid-battle. Perhaps more insidiously, the Solo can engage in psychological warfare by feeding disturbing images to enemy pilots, creating visual and auditory illusions of allies crying for help and being shot down.

Hi-beam saber- Because the Solo is not meant to directly engage enemy mobile suits, its only armament is a high intensity beam saber for self-defense or for dispatching nearby targets. The saber has an extremely powerful blade that ignites so hot it burns violet-white and even radiates in the ultraviolet spectrum. Very few materials can resist a strike from this weapon which can cleave through other beam swords. The long blade has a strong plasma sheath that flexes very little under pressure, causing it to behave very similarly to a solid blade. The long handle allows the Solo the wield the saber either with one or two hands. When not in use, it is sheathed into a scabbard on the Solo's left arm which contains a separate power source to recharge the saber. The scabbard is also anti-beam coated and can deflect blows from a beam saber. The Solo's pilot is rumored to be a master-level duelist. While the Solo's beam saber emits incredible amounts of heat, it can still be rendered completely invisible by the VEIL system.
